Frimley Park Rose Garden – Pavilion
Situated in the heart of the Rose garden, the Hastings Rose Society Pavilion was developed as a timeless centerpiece for gathering, reflection and pause, seeking to continue to draw visitors into the garden. The brief defined by the Hastings Rose Society was an open-air structure to compliment the garden. Inspired by the Veronica Sunbay Memorial in Napier, the developed octagonal pavilion, frames every perspective point of the expansive and colourful rose garden it sis within. In reference to the aerial view of the whole gardens, the pavilion frames 8 picturesque sightlines 400 metres away at the edge of Frimley Park. Constructed of natural resources, the concrete and macrocarpa finished pavilion remains sympathetic to the landscape. As a focal point for the gardens, providing a seated platform for the local and wider community to enjoy for decades to come.
